Summer Training + Seeing Jesus

SUMMER TRAINING

This summer, in addition to our ongoing ministry responsibilities, our family will be road tripping to Colorado for our biannual U.S. Staff Conference on July 11th-‐25th. Gathered together with over 5,000 U.S. staff members, we will hear from our leadership of what God is doing around the world, take time to pray and seek the Lord together and be trained toward greater effectiveness in our ministry roles so that we can go forth and bear even more fruit in our ministries.

Your partnership with us in prayer and finances enables us to attend these conferences where we can grow and be even more effective ministers of the gospel. Each staff family is responsible to cover their own expenses for this conference which is in addition to our ongoing ministry expenses. We are trusting God to raise $2,500 for expenses (ministry training costs, travel, lodging and meals). Would you join us in furthering our development for the gospel by donating toward our total summer expenses? Whatever amount you can give, it will make a difference. If you are in a position to help, would you please respond by July 1st?

Because of your prayers and partnership, Holly has been able to serve the Lord with Cru for 16 years and Matt for 3 years. Thank you for your vital role with us in preparing ourselves to be even better ministers of the gospel in order to reach this next generation.

SEEING JESUS

On a more serious note, we wanted to update you on David Griffin, Matt’s brother-in‐law whom we shared about in our last letter. A month ago, he seemed to have a clear bill of health after battling leukemia for 5 years. A few weeks after he returned home, he was having a hard time breathing and blood clots were found in both lungs. His white blood cell count started to go up again and he was having 3 blood transfusions a week.

On Friday, June 12th, David went to be with our Lord and Savior. We thank the Lord that David is no longer in pain and he fought the good fight to the end, but we grieve as he left behind his wife, Christine, and their four children: Ethan 9, Anna 8, Titus 6 and Zachary 4.

Please pray for this family as they walk through this time of grief and reestablish a new “normal”. Pray for us to know how to minister to them and stay connected as they live in North Carolina.
