Training Disciplemakers in the Church & City
Now is the time to raise up disciplemakers in our churches. People are hungry for discipleship. For the past 6 years, Holly has been training women how to become disciplemakers in the church. In the past year and a half, our church has trained 50 women and 10 men to be disciplemakers, and they have discipled over 50 people one-on-one, both within and outside their church. Over the next two years, every person who desires to be discipled in our church (over 1,200 people) will have the opportunity to do so. Every new believer. Every newly baptized believer. Every person who’s been raised in the church but still wants to grow in their faith. Does your church have an intentional discipleship program? If not, please consider checking out our free PDF of our discipleship training and our accompanying training videos. Holly will also gladly come and train your leaders with a one-day seminar. Just last week, on a social media group, an anonymous member asked, “Do any local Surprise churches offer a discipleship course of some kind?” Holly wrote back and said, “Our church offers an 18-week class on how to disciple, as well as one-on-one discipleship for 8 to 18 weeks.” The woman personally messaged Holly and shared that she had married a pastor six years ago, and feels ill-equipped in her faith and knowledge of the Bible to be a pastor’s wife. She asked to be discipled! A woman in Holly’s discipleship class was a pastor’s wife before her husband retired. She immediately offered to contact the lady, and they will begin meeting next week. They will meet with children and grandchildren at their feet! The woman is from a different church, but she is still hungry for discipleship. If pastor wives are desperate for discipleship, how many others in our Bible studies, small groups, neighborhoods, or even nearby churches could benefit from discipleship with a trained mentor? The Great Commission says, “Go and make disciples…” Our heart is to resource and train the church in this area. Please join us in discipling others. The body of Christ needs you.
